There were several different formats published
during the next few years (1901-1904). In one
of the 1901 formats two Alphonse Mucha
illustrations were used. (See: http://henryaltemus.com/about/updates5.htm#a10
for more information.)
As can be seen below, in 1901-1902 and
1903-1904 the Petit Trianon books have one of
three distinctive patterns on the left side of
the cover. I have designated them as
decorative vine, standing lady and pedestal.
It is impressive to appreciate the number of
formats that are associated with books of
these years. There are three patterns and
their associated right sided flowers.
Although the decorative vine has been seen in
pink and beige color, both the pedestal and
standing lady can be seen in pink and blue in
addition to beige.
Up to this time a total of 16 flowers have
been seen. They are pictured below. Not every
flower has been seen with all three of the
left sided patterns but it is assumed that
every combination exists. In particular, the
lily of the valley flower has been seen with
the Love and Friendship Series which uses all
the same flowers but it has not been seen with
the Petit Trianon Series. I suspect that this
flower does exist with Petit Trianon books.
The assumption is that any Petit Trianon title
in any one of the three left sided patterns
can be seen with any of 16 flowers. Thus a
book in the Pedestal format can be seen in one
of three colors with one of 16 flowers, i.e.
48 possible covers.
One additional note: the pedestal books have
been seen with other decorative floral
patterns beside the 16 flowers that are shown
above. Although these other covers are scarce,
they are not particularly valuable.
