Grey cloth which has simple pictures which circumscribe a multicolored line drawn applique which is book specific. White dust jacket matches the book cover. 5.5 x 4.5.

Series Notes:
1. Books #1-4 were initially published in 1917 and at that time were part of the Wee Books for Wee Folks Series (#186). These books without any change in format were the first four books in this series beginning in 1918.
2. Books #10-12 initially had Jack-the-Jumper in their titles. After two years (1925) this part of the title was dropped.
3. Although some advertisements have the Jack-the-Jumper within the title of book #13, there is no evidence that this title ever existed.
4. Book #15 has been seen advertised with two alternative titles: Peter Rabbit, Mother Rabbit and the Brown Bear / Old Mother Rabbit and the Big Brown Bear. These titles are apparently phantom titles never published.
5. There were several numbering and order changes in this series throughout its history. The most common one is listed here.
6. In 1928-1929 there was a variant of this series published. These books had a paste-on (applique) which encompassed the entire front cover. The end papers are plain purple colored pages. This variant has been seen within all of the Wee Book Series. See picture below.
7. Beginning in 1921 Altemus produced Wee Folk's Library Sets. Three of the ten sets of four books in a colorfully decorated labeled box were from this series. Set #1 had books #1-4. Set #7 had books #5-8. Set #8 had books #9-12. These boxed sets are very rare.

END PAPERS:
The end papers were changed several times over the years:

1) Blank/plain 1918 until mid-1922

After 1922 all the end papers until the series end had the same pictures in different colors. The illustration is one of a number of fairy tale characters holding hands frolicking in a circle.

2) 1922-1923- Green

3) 1923-1926- Blue

4) 1926-1931- Grey

5) 1932-1933- Brightly multicolored.

LETTERING:
Between 1917 and 1920 books #1-4 did not have the usual dark lettering on their covers. Books #1-3 had yellow lettering while book #4 had red lettering. I suspect when Altemus saw how difficult this lettering was to read that it was discontinued.

BOOK #15
As noted above book #15 has been advertised with two alternative titles. The first title seen here was found on the last page of a green end papered Peter Rabbit book. Thus the page is from a 1923 book.
As is noted below, the next page is from a blue end papered book dated from 1924. This book states the actual title that was published. Thus, it can be seen that the phantom title was short lived in Altemus' advertising and books.

1923 Green Endpapers

1924 Blue Endpapers

The other phantom title for Book #15 is Old Mother Rabbit and the Big Brown Bear. This is also a 1923 advertisement.
