Lavender. Gold gilt floral decoration at the periphery of
the cover. The title is centrally located in gold gilt
lettering.

Full vellum cloth with the title printed in the upper left
corner of the cover.
Series Notes:
1. Format 3 is called the Renaissance binding and was in
three series Altemus Library, Devotional Series and
Representative Poets. These books cost $4.00 while the
others were 50 or 75 cents. They were only published in
1895.
2. The first 12 books were published in 1895. They are
numbered first without letters in parentheses.
3. In 1896 the series was expanded to 22 books. The first
10 remained the same. Numbers 11-22 are listed with an
"a".
4. In 1897 the series added number 23.
5. The series was expanded to 30 books in 1898. These
books and their numbering is noted with an "a".
6. In 1899 an alphabetized list of 50 books was published.
It is listed with a "b" after the number. In the original
list of 1899, book 7 was Chamber of Peace. In 1900 and
thereafter Buy Your Own Cherries (7b) was in the list with
the former book deleted permanently.
7. Later in 1899-1900, the following numbers were deleted
from the series: 2, 7, 16, 36, 43, 48, 49.
8. From 1900-1903, the following numbers were not part of
the series: 2, 11, 16, 36, 43, 48, 49. In 1903 #48 was
back in the list.
9. In 1903 the book #48 was changed to Talks to Children
About Jesus. This # was deleted subsequently. It is listed
as 48c in the above bibliography.
10. 1904-1910 the following were deleted: 2, 11, 12, 15,
16, 28, 36, 40, 43, 48, 49.
11. In 1905 #51 was added - At the Beautiful Gate.
12. 1911 new deletions: #23. 1917- #20, 29, 50. 1925- #24,
25, 31, 32, 34, 35, 39, 41, 42. 1927- #18, 21, 30 33, 44.
13. This series was published until Altemus went out of
business in 1932. |
