Green cloth. Cover has line drawn picture of two boys standing in the hatch of a submarine which is on the surface. Red background clouds. Uncoated brown paper jacket matches the book.

As above. The earlier dust jacket is white and coated and matches the book cover. The later dust jacket is white, coated and multicolored that pictures 3 sailors on the deck of a submarine.

Henry Altemus Company      Format: 3      Volumes: 1 - 8
Book cover as above but without colors (black line drawn pictures on a green cloth book) or with a multicolored applique which shows two sailors on top a submarine, one pointing and the other looking through binoculars. Dust jacket matches the applique.

Series Notes:
1. Note that there are 5 different brown uncoated dust jackets in format #1. They are shown in their chronological order. (Earliest -#1 to latest -#5.) The 4th and 5th dust jackets can be distinguished from the earlier ones by the new spine pattern. The 5th is the only jacket in format 1 to have black lettering. #s 4 and 5 are quite scarce.
2. Two Format 2 Dust Jacket (later) have been seen.
The difference is the advertisements on the back of the dust jacket.
The earlier jacket only lists Submarine Boys Series books.
