Series Notes:
1. With the exception of The Boy Geologist, Hiawatha, Paul and
Virginia, Alice in Wonderland and Helen's Babies, all of these books
have been published in similar formats prior to their placement in this
series.
2. The earlier editions of #5-11, 18-23 had glossy frontispieces. See
Series #111, 60, and 89. Non-Series #112, 125.
3. #24- Boy Geologist was added to the series in 1910.
4. #25- Helen's Babies was added to the series in 1909.
5. Books #12-15 (Ellis Histories) and #23 Little Lady-Her Book were
deleted in 1908. Pictures of the Ellis books are at http://henryaltemus.com/series/series201.htm
.
6. In the mid teens books were randomly deleted from this series.
Dating the books.
This can be a difficult task because often times there are no ads in
the back of the book and the dust jacket is not present. Some general
guidelines are as follows.
1. The best indicator of a date is with the dust jacket. The 1915 and
later jackets advertise this series' books as costing 75 cents.
2. The earliest jackets (1908-1911) have book prices at $1.00.
3. Some very late books in the 1924-1925 era list on the back of the
dust jacket juvenile series books published as late as 1924. (i.e.
Grace Harlowe's Overland Riders On the Lost River Trail)
4. Without a jacket use the back of book ads.
