Series 105- Holly Tree Series

In the first format of this series any one of five cover colors is possible. In addition, there are four different flower possibilities. Thus, any title in the first format has 20 possible covers.

Here is a new cover to the database for book #10 The Story Without an End

Non Series #97

Here is a new picture for Non Series #97. Next to it is the picture already in the database. Although these books appear very similar, one has a deeper red and brighter yellow flames. In addition the glossy pictures are placed in different places throughout the books. It is unclear which was published earlier.

Series 205- Little Color Books

This is a series that is not mentioned in any Altemus catalogue or book seller advertisement. I am adding this blue cloth book to the two others previously found. These three books were all part of a ten book series published by Thomas Nelson in the late 1920’s. I suspect all ten of the Nelson titles were published by Altemus but it really cannot be stated with certainty. The brown end papers were seen in several Altemus series in the early 1930’s.

Series 57- Boys and Girls Classics(new)

This series had covers which were linen with pictures that were continuous between several different books. A number of different linen swatches were used for the covers of the books of this series. Since the swatches were larger than was needed for the covering of a book, a number of different covers for each swatch were possible. Certain pictures are much more uncommon than others. Today I found a second picture from sw-7 (See: http://henryaltemus.com/series/series57.htm). As you can see pictures overlap to a degree. I do not know what the complete picture for this swatch will look like.

Series 164- Shakespeare’s Plays

This series was published from 1899 until 1933. The books themselves are virtually unchanged throughout the years except for the title page.
In 1899 the title page had the Henry Altemus imprint. Beginning in 1900 the imprint was Henry Altemus Company. Here is a newly found book from 1899. The 1899 books are quite scarce.

There are three printings of the only Altemus edition of this book.
The first printing is pale blue or maroon. Both books have white lettering. There is no prefatory note after page ix.
The second printing is pale blue with white lettering and has the prefatory note.
The third printing is tan with blue lettering. It has the prefatory note.
Each of the three editions had the same dust jacket.

Series 132- Mother Stories Series

I am adding today the first edition cover of book #3- Mother Fairy-Tales to the data base. The key identifying point is that it only lists 6 titles in the front ad. This indicates a 1908 book since in 1909 there were 10 books listed.
