Pamphlet Advertising for Juvenile Series (1910-1911)

This 32 page advertising pamphlet advertises four different boys juvenile series: Motor Boat Club, Submarine Boys, Pony Rider Boys and High School Boys. There is an excerpt from each series and then a full page ad listing the books from the series. It is 6.5 x 4.5.

The pamphlet lists books published as late as 1910 but not any 1912 books.

This is the second Altemus advertising pamphlet that I have seen. Both only highlighted juvenile series.

Series 172 Story Book Series

It is frequently thought that the over sized Altemus books did not originally have dust jackets (or boxes).
The two books of this series (http://henryaltemus.com/series/series172.htm) are 10 x 7.75. Although the jackets are hard to find, they most certainly exist.

New to the database is this dust jacket for book #1 Peter Rabbit Story Book. This jacket dates from 1930 since there are books advertised on the reverse published in 1930 but not 1931.

Question & Answer Series 179 Vademecum Series

Q: I recently stumbled upon this book. I absolutely love it and was trying to find out more about it. I have looked at the Library of Congress and on the internet but nobody shows a book like this one. Can you tell me more about when it came out, worth today, etc…? I would greatly appreciate any information. All I know is that it shows having been published in 1807 by Henry Altemus.
Ballads and Other Verses
A: Your book is part of the Vademecum Series (http://henryaltemus.com/series/series179.htm) and was published in 1898.

This series consists of reprints of classics, fiction, poetry, essays, etc. Originally these books came in labeled boxes.

Generally because these books are reprints, they only have nominal value.

Question & Answer Series 180 Vademecum Series

Q: I was trying to figure out the value of a book and was searching by title and publisher and came across your website. Here is a picture of the cover. I did see an almost identical cover of a different title but I didn’t see anything about The House of the Seven Gables. I would like to sell this book but I have no idea how to figure out its value. There are no dates listed in the book so I am not sure when it is published. Anything you can tell me about this book, including any tips on selling books, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A: Your book was published in 1903 as part of the Vademecum Series. See http://henryaltemus.com/vademecum.htm and
http://henryaltemus.com/series/series180.htm.

This series consists of reprints only. In 1903 there were a number of different cover colors and more than forty different paintings used as appliques on the cover.

It only has nominal value.
