A frequent error made by sellers is confusing the Altemus copyright date with the actual publication date.

Series #200. The Young Folks’ Quarto Series and its successor Series #64. Children’s Gift Series both list the copyright of the Alice books as 1897. Series #200 was published in 1912 and Series #64 was published between 1913 and 1920. The formats of the Alice/ Looking Glass books of both series are the same. The books are large (8.5 x 6.5) and each page has light blue decorative illustrations surrounding the text. See The Young Folks’ Quarto Series for more details.

Appreciate that immediately upon seeing the title page imprint-Henry Altemus Company- the book’s publication date cannot be earlier than 1900. (Altemus incorporated in 1900.)

Presently there are two of these books listed incorrectly on Ebay as 1897 publications.
