Question & Answer Series 202 Young People’s Library Format 4

Q: I’ve had this book for awhile & recently wanted to give it to my granddaughter, but her mother didn’t want it since she had so many books already!
It was from a library, I think, that said 3 day book. & then given to a Sunday school child in 1929. There’s an inscription.
Now I’m reading it to my other 5 year old granddaughter. I was looking to see when it was first published and did not see a date. That’s when I looked it up on the Internet & was curious to see about ordering other titles that were listed in the back , all $1.00 each!
What can you tell me about this book. A Child’s Story of the Bible

This book was published as a non-series book by Henry Altemus Company in about 1916. It was sold within a labelled box. The book shown here was called the “Philmont Edition”

Altemus also published a “Tabard Edition” both in cloth and full leather. These formats have not been seen.

Purple. Gilt spine and cover lettering and decoration.
Gilt top. 10” x 7”. Box shown below.

Wee Books for Wee Folks boxed set

In more than 25 years of collecting Altemus books and ephemera, this is only the second boxed set I have seen. Ten sets of four books were published beginning in the 1920’s. Here is a set from 1923.

For information about these sets see: Henry Altemus Co – Wee Books for Wee Folks

This is set #1. Because of size limitations, it is doubtful that the books originally had dust jackets within the box.
