Poems We Love Series

Q:  Just picked this up in a second hand store. The Raven and Other Poems

Wondering what you think of it and its possible value??

A:  This book is part of the Poems We Love Series (Series #146). It was published between 1912-1915. It originally came within a labeled box.

Ordinarily there is very little interest in the books of this series since they are reprints. In addition you are lacking the box that it came in. But there is an active market for books by Poe so it is possible your book would have some value.

Vademecum Series

Q:  Is it possible to identify the year of this book from the cover? There is no identifying year that I could find in it. Emerson's Essays, Second Series

A:  Yes. Your book was published as part of the Vademecum Series in 1907. During that year books had a number of different colors and applique pictures but the cover template was the same.

Sanspareil Series

Q:  I have a book Fanchon, Henry Altemus 1896. Can you give me an idea of value for this book?

A:  Your book is part of the Sanspareil Series published in 1898. Sanspareil Series 162 (earlier numbering)
It is a reprint without the dust jacket of a not in demand title.
Unless you can find a buyer who loves the attractive cover, it will be a hard sell at any price.

Young People's Library, Format 4

Q:  I’ve had this book for awhile & recently wanted to give it to my granddaughter, but her mother didn’t want it since she had so many books already!
It was from a library, I think, that said 3 day book. & then given to a Sunday school child in 1929. There’s an inscription.
Now I’m reading it to my other 5 year old granddaughter. I was looking to see when it was first published and did not see a date. That’s when I looked it up on the Internet & was curious to see about ordering other titles that were listed in the back , all $1.00 each!
What can you tell me about this book. A Child's Story of the Bible

A:  Your book is part of the Young People’s Library, Format 4. It was published between 1923 and 1933. It originally had a dust jacket.

Q:  I found a copy of a book published by Henry Altemus Publishing on my mother's bookshelf. She was an avid reader. She left her books to me.
